I want a set of pocket Avengers to keep as pets and they can just climb around on the couch and in the kitchen, tiny Iron Man flying around and messing with TV volume, tiny Thor using his hammer to help me with housework, all of them flirting with each other and being cute and I could just lay around and watch them and coo over them like I do with my cats.
Actually if I’m honest I want this for pretty much all of my fandoms. Especially for the ones that are finished.
Pocket Giles could sit on my dresser dangling his feet off the edge, cleaning his glasses and lecturing me about responsibility and then tiny pocket Hermione and I would play scrabble.

False comparison. Everything in the top is official art. Everything below is fan-made.

There are more differences than that (social context of sexism and gender, the male gaze, etc) but that’s definitely the main one. It’s one thing for fans to take a character out of their context and hyper-sexualize them to the potential detriment of their story or person; it’s another thing entirely for that to be present in the original commercial media as it is sold to the public.
