Chris Colfer Adopts 8 Year Old Cat from Shelter
First Chris Colfer created some original artwork to raise money for animals. Now, the actor has graduated to adopting. Colfer went down to the West Valley Animal Shelter and took home an 8 year old 20 pound cat named Brian.
We often read about celebrities adopting puppies and kittens. Don’t get us wrong. We love any adoptions, but older animals have the hardest time finding a forever home. That’s why we’re so excited that Colfer is publicizing his new companion on twitter.
Colfer wrote, “I adopted a cat today from the West Valley Animal Shelter! His name is Brian, he’s 8 years-old and 20 pounds!” The “Glee” star continued, “It was heartbreaking to see so many sweet animals needing homes. Please think about rescuing!”
Speak to any shelter employee and they’ll tell you that everyone wants a young dog or cat. Senior critters often get ignored. But, there are many advantages to bringing home an older animal. Most of the time they have already spent a large majority of their lives living in a house which means they are probably potty trained and not so likely to eat your shoes.
Other animals that have a hard time being adopted include certain breeds like Pit Bulls, special needs animals and oddly enough, black dogs and cats.
This is the same shelter where I adopted Godric. <3
