There are more differences than that (social context of sexism and gender, the male gaze, etc) but that’s definitely the main one. It’s one thing for fans to take a character out of their context and hyper-sexualize them to the potential detriment of their story or person; it’s another thing entirely for that to be present in the original commercial media as it is sold to the public.

so I’m trying to build a desk in my bedroom and one of the few pictures I can easily interpret from the Ikea instruction booklet says I’m going to need two screwdrivers and a hammer

so I go where I keep my tools and there are both my flat- and Phillips-head screwdrivers, but no hammer

so I’m stomping around the house looking for a hammer, all the while shouting “I need a hammer! WHERE IS A HAMMER?!”

and the doorbell rings and there’s the mail guy who gives me a package

and inside the package is this
