Okay so
over the weekend I was at Gallifrey One. Which is a really fun convention.
And on the last night, Toby Haynes (director of many Doctor Who episodes and also Sherlock’s Reichenbach Fall) came up to our group of ladies and hung out with us (HE APPROACHED US; IT WAS AMAZING) and bought us all drinks and stuff (I wasn’t planning on having another drink, actually, but then Toby Haynes offered me one, so sure. Okay).
And he’s really attractive and kind of young?
But I worried we were crowding him a bit and so tried not to be too awkward.
Not the point.
The point is during a live commentary for “Day of the Moon” he said that he likes to pull a Hitchcock and work himself into everything he directs in the form of his hands. Like, if there’s an insert (cut-away close-up) of hands in his things, they’re usually/often his hands, and not the actors’ hands (he said he even shot his hands in drag once, lol). It’s actually really usual for hand inserts to be someone else’s hands, as those things are usually shot last and it’s cheaper to just send the actors home and use someone else who doesn’t cost as much to keep on set.
And all of the sudden I thought of all the various animated gif hand porn going around tumblr of Benedict Cumberbatch’s hands and I just thought,
“LOL WHAT IF THOSE AREN’T EVEN BENEDICT’S HANDS?”
Because Toby said that for Reichenbach, at least, nearly every hand close up for both John and Sherlock was him. And even in other episodes, I wouldn’t be surprised if those hands are actually someone else’s.
THIS THOUGHT IS GIVING ME LOTS OF LULZ.
